Kristin Davis didn't name her adopted baby after her Sex and the City daughter

The actress didn't realise the connection between the name of her adopted daughter in real life and her character Charlotte York's daughter

Kristin Davis revealed to Anderson Cooper that she didn't even realise the connection between the name of her adopted daughter in real life, Gemma Rose, and her character Charlotte York's daughter, Rose, until recently.

They say life imitates art, so you'd be forgiven for thinking actress Kristin Davis took some creative license when naming her adopted baby girl Gemma Rose. Sex and the City fans will remember that Davis' on-screen alter-ego on the show, Charlotte York, had an adopted baby girl named Rose.

'I had totally forgotten that on Sex and the City I also had a child named Rose and since I did this whole thing in secret, I didn't talk to anybody about the naming or the adopting at all and I didn't realise the connection,' Davis told Anderson Cooper on his show Anderson.

'Then we announced and everybody was like, "Oh, she named her after her Sex and the City baby." I didn't even consciously [realise it], not at all, not at all.

'I almost named her Rose as a first name because I kept thinking it's such a beautiful name. Isn't it weird? I think it was lodged unconsciously.'

Davis, who's currently promoting her new television movie, Of Two Minds, also opened up about the possibility of more children.

'I had never thought about [adopting more kids] because I was so kind of worried about the first.

'Once she came I was like, "Hey I can do this, this is okay." So I mull it over, but because I'm a single mum, I want to focus on her and make sure I'm doing a good job first.'

Well, if she is looking to Charlotte York for inspiration - consciously or not - there could be more character to explore soon.

In an appearance on Good Morning America earlier this week, Davis said that she would love to do another film and isn't discounting the possibility of Sex and the City 3.

'We've really never known what would happen in our journey with Sex and the City,' she said.

'We always think it's over and then it's not. Whenever we see each other we always talk about it socially.'
