Katy Perry and John Mayer squash break-up rumours by celebrating his birthday together

Katy Perry and her beau had some time alone as they enjoyed a romantic day in honour of the actor’s 35th year

Katy Perry is now an expert at dealing with speculation over her romantic life but yesterday (Tuesday) she proved recent rumours that she’d split from John Mayer were totally untrue.

The pair spent John’s 35th birthday together and were snapped having both a celebratory lunch and dinner in New York. If that doesn’t prove they’re an item we’re not sure what will!

Celebrations began with a spot of shopping before heading for food at ABC Kitchen in New York's West Village, where Katy dressed down in black jeans worn with a denim jacket complete with statement sleeves and a black fedora hat.

They ended their evening at The Box Club in New York with Katy stepping out of her more cartoony ensembles and into an oriental print dress worn with a collarless grey coat brightened up with yellow accessories. John added a playful element with a bow tie.

The crafty couple avoided cementing their status as a couple by failing to have any sort of PDA show. There was no hand holding caught on camera or a simple kiss – much to our disappointment.
