Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise looked oh-so smart as they headed out for a family dinner over the weekend

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise stepped out in style as they headed out for some afternoon tea at their favourite restaurant in New York over the weekend.

Fresh back from visiting Holmes' family in Ohio, the adorable duo dressed up as they took one of Suri's friends for the meal at Alice's Tea Cup.

Recent reports suggested that Katie was keen to take Suri back to Toledo, Ohio as Tom Cruise had always banned her from taking their daughter there during their marriage.

Sources close to the Top Gun actor have been quick to rubbish the rumours, saying any such claims are a 'gross lie.'

'To say Tom prevented anything is a gross lie. He not only didn't prevent [Suri having a relationship with Holmes' family] but encouraged it and paid for it!'

'The first several birthday parties Katie and Tom threw for Suri had the family and cousins come to town – all expenses were paid for by Tom.'
