Kate Middleton is reportedly ‘surprised and upset’ after Chief Inspector John Hourihan leaves his post
Kate Middleton and Prince William have been left ‘surprised and upset’ following the news their chief bodyguard has left his position. Chief Inspector John Hourihan joined the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband’s security team five years ago and was well-liked by the couple.

The Mirror report the security expert was tempted by a more lucrative offer to work at secure psychiatric hospital Broadmoor in Berkshire. Mr Hourihan traveled extensively with Kate Middleton, accompanying her on trips to Borneo and Singapore.
Before he worked with Kate and William, Chief Inspector Hourihan, who worked for Scotland Yard’s elite Royal Protection Branch, provide security for the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

In his latest role he managed eight bodyguards who are all highly skilled in close protection duties including administering first aid and marksmanship.

A source close to the Duke and Duchess told the newspaper: ‘John was a fabulous guy who was always there where they needed him. Calm, astute and experienced he was a top man. They will miss him but wish him well in the future.’
