Depp was snapped leaving his New York apartment in a bizarre ensemble consisting of striped trousers, a printed T-shirt and blue jacket with leather panels. But it was the star's signature kooky accessories, which included a fedora with a hole in it, aviator shades, beaded necklaces, a printed scarf, multiple rings, pocket chain and a handkerchief, which really got the notoriously private actor noticed.

Now, while we admire a man who isn't afraid to take a fashion risk once in a while, and thoroughly approve of well-styled scruffiness, it wouldn't have hurt to ditch one - or five - of the accessories.

According to the Daily Mail, Depp is reportedly in talks to star in The Night Stalker, a film adaptation of the 1970s television show originally based on Jeff Rice's book, The Kolchak Papers, about a newspaper reporter who investigated the supernatural.

It's about time we saw Depp back on the big screen, isn't it?
