Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have both been vocal about tackling climate change and have frequently encouraged people to switch to a more eco-friendly way of living.

However, the couple came under fire this week when it was revealed that they had used private jets to go on several holidays over the last month. They were heavily criticised for their decision and faced an onslaught of online abuse.

'It's a joke them using planes like we use cars and lecturing us on climate change,' one user posted to Twitter. 'To them we are peasants that should cut back so they can indulge in their gold plated lifestyles.'

'I can’t believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being such hypocrites,' posted another. 'I’m really disappointed.'

While they've remained quiet on the topic, they have shared a quote on their Instagram page just days after the media and Twitter storm started, which read: 'Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good together that overwhelm the world.'

The quote was captioned: 'An inspiring quote for the day - wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

Earlier this week, singer Pink took to Twitter to defend the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, writing: 'I'm happy to see people coming to the defence of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It’s out of control.

'Let's all be a bit kinder, huh? Let's show our children that it's cool to be kind.'
