Will it live up to the first two? See exactly what we've been waiting for in the hotly anticipated third series of hit show 'Girls'

'Girls' series 3 has been teased in a sneak preview trailer to give a glimpse of what to expect when the show returns in 2014.

Ever the epitome of 21st century girls' worlds, producers used a 10-second Instagram video featuring a series of production images to entice fans for the upcoming series.

The snapshots appear to show the characters as all-smiles as they frolic on the beach in front of the lens and a vision of Lena Dunham from behind the camera as she continues to write, direct and act in the award-winning show.

It's been some wait for fans of 'Girls', by 27-year-old Lena, which ended with a (close to) happily ever after for her character in the finale of series 2.

Lena's hopeless yet loveable character, Hannah, got seemingly all that she'd been waiting for when her on-off boyfriend Adam rescues her from a fit of ongoing depression at the state of her early twenties.

The trailer hints that Adam is still going to feature as a big part of her life in this the third series as he's pictured pulling an admiring face, presumably at Hannah.

We can't wait to see what the next series has in store.
