Now this is how you dress for the most fashionable red carpet of the year. Well done, Blake.

Blakely Lively has done it again.

The stunning 26-year-old actress schooled us all in the art of dressing for Cannes on Wednesday night. In fact, we almost feel the teensiest bit sorry for those actresses who have to follow her flawless act.

Blake chose a burgundy Gucci Premiere gown with a dramatic thigh-high slit for the opening of the Cannes Film Festival 2014 (which kicked off with the premiere of Nicole Kidman's film Grace of Monaco). She wore her blonde locks in a lovely plaited ponytail and rocked a smouldering smokey eye.

And of course, Blake's glam red-carpet look wasn't lacking in bling. She wore dazzling Lorraine Schwartz statement earrings, two jeweled bracelets and crystal-embellished Casadei shoes.

We're happy to admire Blake's solo red-carpet appearances as the ambassador for L'Oréal Paris. But we are crossing our fingers for another lovely photo opp of Blake and her handsome husband, Ryan Reynolds. He's premiering his film The Captive at Cannes this year, so we're hoping his wife will be by his side.
