The singer arrived on the arm of rapper husband Jay-Z, joining a host of other A-listers at the prestigious Washington event.
Beyonce's performance of the Star Spangled Banner was watched by excited crowds in attendance at the gathering in the centre of the capital, as well as being broadcast live around the globe.
Stunning in a glittering black velvet and chiffon beaded Emilio Pucci gown, the songstress looked serious as she quietly took the microphone and stepped up to perform the song.
Standing close to the President and his family, Bey was watched eagerly by the Obamas' two daughters, Sacha and Malia.
