Beyonce leaves Blue Ivy at home to party with Jay-Z

Fresh from their holiday in St Barts, Beyonce and Jay-Z headed to a party in New York

Fresh from her recent holiday in St Barts, Beyonce Knowles wasted no time in getting back to business on her return to New York City.

The superstar's first stop was at her management's office in the Big Apple, where she brought baby daughter Blue Ivy along for the ride.

She kept her little bundle covered up, as ever, in an Aztec print blanket, which was carefully coordinated with her own neutral ensemble made up of nude cropped jeans and a matching baggy jumper.

Later on, Bey left her baby at home and hit the town with husband Jay-Z at the fashionable Cartier Juste un Clou after-party at Skylight Soho in Manhattan.

The 30-year-old looked very relaxed as she watched events from her place on the VIP balcony, wearing the same outfit she'd been sporting for her business meetings earlier.

In between her mothering duties and partying, the singer also found the time to post a handwritten letter to Michelle Obama on her official website. In the heartfelt missive Bey praises the First Lady and says how proud she is to have Blue Ivy grow up in a world with Ms Obama in it.

She wrote: 'Michelle is the ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman. She is a caring mother, she's a loving wife, while at the same time, she is the First Lady!!!!

'No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope - she's humble, loving, and sincere. She builds and nurtures her family, while also looking out for so many millions in so many ways.

She finished by writing: 'Michelle, thank you so much for every single thing that u do for us - I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you, to look up to.'
