Angelina Jolie has become a fan of E.L. James' cult work of erotica fiction, 50 Shades of Grey, according to insiders, and is interested in getting involved with the film.

Since the news broke that the hit 'mummy porn' novel would be turned into a major motion picture, rumours have been swirling that starlets ranging from Emma Watson to Katie Cassidy to Kristen Stewart were all being considered for the role of the virginal, beautiful 22-year-old protagonist who captures the heart of sexy, smouldering Christian Grey.

And now, superstar Angelina Jolie reportedly wants in as well.

Currently filming in Buckinghamshire for her role as evil sorceress Maleficent in the upcoming Disney adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, The Mirror reports that Angelina was introduced to the 50 Shades Of Grey trilogy on set and can't put it down.

A source tells the paper: 'Angelina kept hearing about the book while she was in the UK. All the girls on set were talking about it and how it’s being made into a film.'

'Angelina went out and bought herself a copy, thinking she’d love a part in the hot topic on everyone’s lips at the moment. She knows the film is bound to be a huge hit.'

'Ange is dead-set on a major part. She’s up for the challenge,' the source continued.

Now, we're pretty sure Ange would do a great job getting down and dirty with the BDSM aspects of the role, but her husband-stealing, blood-wearing, tattoo-loving, lesbian-dabbling past (and even her current status as Brad Pitt's fiancée, outspoken campaigner and Earth Mother-of-six), not to mention that she's 37-years-old, don't exactly scream innocent, corruptible, twenty-something.

But then again, she is an Oscar-winner, so her acting abilities should prove up to the challenge...
