Angelina Jolie will miss the funeral of her aunt on Sunday to support Brad Pitt at the London premiere of his new film
Angelina Jolie will miss the funeral of her aunt on Sunday to support her fiance Brad Pitt at the London premiere of his new film, World War Z.
The actress will make her brave return to the red carpet for the first time following her recent double mastectomy, but it means she will miss the funeral of her aunt.
Debbie Martin, 61, who was the younger sister of Jolie’s mother Marcheline Bertrand and carried the same defective gene as Angelina, died at a hospital in San Diego, California, earlier this week.
Her funural will take place this weekend but Angelina will not be able to attend as she will be in London supporting fiance Brad Pitt at the premiere of his latest movie.
Martin’s widower Ron tells E! News: ‘We are making the final arrangements for the funeral as we speak… Angelina will be in London on Sunday so she won’t be able to attend but she has been in touch with us and with various other members of the family, which has obviously been lovely and has meant a lot to us.’
He adds, ‘We are currently in the process of setting up a foundation in Debbie’s memory and we are hoping to raise money for women who can’t afford to get BRCA testing.
‘We are hoping to work with a charity called the Clearity Foundation so that every woman in America will have access to BRCA testing that could save her life – no matter how much money she has.’
We’re sure Angelina will be greeted in the city with the warmest of wishes from fans who have been touched by her story.
