The dancing judge has been poached by Simon Cowell as part of a new line-up on his ITV talent show

Strictly Come Dancing starlet Alesha Dixon has revealed she’s quit her post on the BBC show’s judging panel, after being offered a role on Britain’s Got Talent.

It’s thought the songstress was poached by Simon Cowell, reportedly offering a whopping £350,000 pay packet, and will take up a place on the show next series, alongside current judge Amanda Holden and comedian David Walliams.

A spokesman for the star announced the exciting news in a message on her website, which read: ‘Alesha has decided not to return to Strictly Come Dancing after a successful three-series run and will instead be joining the Britain's Got Talent panel, alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and David Walliams.’

And yesterday the pop princess revealed she could not be more excited about the move.

‘I am delighted to be joining the judging panel of Britain’s Got Talent for 2012,’ she gushed. ‘It’s a fantastic show and I am very excited to be working with Simon, David and Amanda on the search for a new star.’

Reports suggest Simon Cowell stole the songstress from the Strictly show in an effort to stem the flow of viewers leaving Britain’s Got Talent and make the judging panel 'younger and better'.

Speaking of his new judges, he said: ‘I love Alesha. She's feisty, opinionated and knows what it's like to be a competitor and judge. She is going to bring a lot to the table.

'And I'm delighted David is joining. He thinks he can do a better job than the people there before so it will be fun. I think he's terrified!'

The media mogul also announced he will put up £250,000 of his own to add to the prize fund, taking the winner's pot to £500,000.
