People with unwanted Olympic and Paralympic tickets now have the chance to resell at face value
London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Locog) has given ticket holders permission to trade tickets from today, Friday 6th January.
The official resale period lasts until Friday 3rd February and new buyers can purchase tickets from the 2012 ticketing website.
‘This is a way to try to combat touts,’ says James Pearce, BBC sports correspondent. ‘If you have a ticket you don’t want, rather than selling to the highest bidder this is a way of doing it officially, doing it legally.’
If sold, the seller will be reimbursed for the actual price of the ticket. Unsold tickets will be returned to the ticket holder’s account.
After criticism over the resale programme being open for a short window, Locog has confirmed that ticket holderswill get another chance to resell in April 2012.
