Is this the chicest Louis Vuitton store yet?

With Paris Fashion Week in full swing, you could argue there really is no better time to open a swanky new Louis Vuitton store in Paris, on the Place Vendôme no less.

The Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme, newly designed and re-instated by architect Peter Marino, is all the more symbolic that it marks the House’s grand return to where its story began over 160 years ago, when a young Louis Vuitton opened his first store.

Mr. Marino exclusively told us, 'As a philosophy, I thought I would juxtapose a modern aesthetic to everything WITHIN the walls and restore as beautifully and faithfully as possible the exterior. The balance between what is modern and what is old, is for me, what Paris is all about. The staircase is a particularly good example of this – an 18th century design in stone contrasted by high tech glass balustrades suspended by stainless steel cables.'

As of the 4th October, you'll be able to shop couture, ready-to-wear, jewellery, watches, leather goods, shoes, fragrances and accessories, all in one place.

Celebrity fans were out in force to celebrate the opening of the store, with Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Connelly, Catherine Deneuve and Alicia Vikander dressing up for the occasion.

We'll see you at the doors.

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
