But Suri is left disappointed when Katie Holmes refuses to buy the cute puppy she wanted

Katie Holmes has treated Suri Cruise to more fun family days out than we can keep up with, since the news of the divorce from Tom Cruise emerged, but yesterday's visit to a pet store ended in tears.

Holmes, 33, took Suri, 6, to the Citipup pet store in Manhattan but had to console her daughter after they walked away without one particularly cute pooch.

Suri appeared particularly smitten with a little white and black Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese mix cutie but, for whatever reason, Holmes didn't buy the pet and was forced to deal with the consequences - puppy dog eyes from Miss Suri Cruise.

Over the weekend, Holmes continued her post-divorce fashionable streak in a sriped dress as she first attended a business meeting and then took Suri, along with Jeanne Yang, with whom she set up the fashion label Holmes & Yang, to the pet shop.

After just 11 days, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise announced that they had reached a divorce settlement, with Holmes reportedly being granted primary custody of Suri.

In a statement, the Hollywood pair said: 'We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.

'We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.'
