And we couldn't be more excited
As Kate Middleton’s due date rapidly approaches, there’s not long left until our favourite royal clan becomes a family of five – although here’s why Prince Charles may miss his third grandchild’s arrival.
As with their first two children, all eyes will be on the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London as we patiently wait to get a glimpse of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child, as well as finding out their name and gender.
But while most of the attention will be on the new royal baby and his or her mum, Princess Charlotte will also make royal history when her younger sibling is born.
Thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, regardless of whether William and Kate’s third child is a boy or a girl, Charlotte’s place in line to the throne won’t change. Even if the baby is a boy, she will still be fourth in line to the throne.
That said, there’s still this royal rule, which means that Princess Charlotte’s children won’t automatically inherit her title, solely because she’s a girl.
Fortunately there’s plenty of time to get that one sorted out – Charlotte is only nearly three, remember.
Not long now until we finally know if royal baby no. 3 is a boy or a girl!
