The birthday girl showcased her signature sense of humour, poking fun at the public's interest in her personal life

Jennifer Aniston has a fabulous career, a sexy fiancé and a stellar sense of humour. So who cares if she doesn't have kids?

The actress proved she can take a joke while conducting an interview with activist Gloria Steinem on Monday (the day before her 45th birthday).

As a longtime subject of tabloid rumours and gossip, Jen is pretty used to seeing her name in the headlines. So it was refreshing to hear her joke about the intrusive nature of the reports on her personal life.

'The public has a great interest in our personal lives.' the birthday girl said to Steinem. 'I know you've come up against this, and I certainly have too - where being a woman and our value and our worth is basically associated with our marital status or whether or not we have procreated.'

The childless Steinem replied, 'Well, I guess we're in deep s**t!'

In true Aniston style, she responded with a laugh. 'That's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure that was the case. That we are, in fact, in deep s**t.'

We love that Jen doesn't take the ridiculous assaults on her private life too seriously. And with Justin Theroux by her side and a pile of success to her name, it's pretty clear that she's having the last laugh.
