It is a truth universally acknowledged that celebrity engagement rings are some of the biggest, most bling-tastic, expensive and rare rocks on the planet.

And with engagement season now in full swing, we've had quite our fair share of confirmed (and rumoured) celebrity engagements of late that are already well on their way to becoming some of the most iconic and trend-setting rocks out there—from Zendaya's subtly announced engagement at the Golden Globes to Selena Gomez's romantic Instagram carousel that broke the internet and warranted a sweet request from Taylor Swift.

Of course, we can't forget the classics either, from Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's legendary sparklers to Victoria Beckham's impressive 15-ring collection—each every bit as desirable today as they were back then.

We truly are spoilt for choice when it comes to engagement ring inspiration—though our own versions might have to be just a little smaller... So, we've decided to speak to the experts and, with their help, rounded up some of the best celebrity engagement rings of all time, for those doing their own research for that all-important piece of jewellery.

Zendaya

I get it—viral content can become obnoxious after a couple of days of dominating the 'gram. But trust me, Zendaya's engagement ring and her recent appearances with it are worthy of seeing over and over again.

Valued at around $200,000, Zendaya's east-west diamond engagement ring is rumoured to be by London-based luxury jewellery designer Jessica McCormack—and it's already fuelled one of 2025's most significant engagement ring trends. According to Jessie Thomas, founder of Jessie Thomas Jewellery, “Oval and emerald-cut stones set east to west add an unusual edge to an otherwise classic diamond engagement ring. It’s often just enough of a hint of individuality whilst remaining steadfastly classic and timeless.”

Selena Gomez

Marquise diamonds were all over my feed last year, and the obsession is showing no signs of slowing—especially since Selena Gomez's recent engagement announcement featured a marquise diamond set on a yellow-gold pavé band.

"Marquise are characterful enough to hold their own as a solitaire, as is the case for Gomez's ring, but their shape also allows for a lot of design possibilities: think diamond side stone clusters for a vintage look, larger side stones for a modern-looking trilogy ring, asymmetrical side stones configurations for a playful twist," explains Rachel Boston, founder of the jewellery brand of the same name.

Victoria Beckham

It's no secret that over her 25 years of marriage, Victoria Beckham has collected a whopping 15 engagement rings—all serving to reaffirm hers and David Beckham's love and commitment to each other.

Ranging from marquis to emerald cuts, each one is as spectacular as the last. However, a fan favourite has been identified as a square-cut diamond ring mounted on a pavé band. This classic style is as timeless as it is versatile—and proof that often, the drama really is in the details.

Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton's sapphire engagement ring is one of the royal family's most iconic and precious pieces of jewellery. The heirloom dates back to the 1840s and features a striking blue sapphire stone surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds set in 18-karat white gold.

"I’m getting more requests for coloured gemstones currently," explains Thomas. "Sapphires and emeralds are the most popular. The huge variety of colours and the individuality of each stone is ideal for clients looking for a completely bespoke and unique piece.”

Meghan Markle

Meghan Markle's three-stone ring is as symbolic as they come. Designed by Prince Harry and the official Court Jeweller, this ring style symbolises the past, present, and future of a couple's life together. Sentimentally, the two round stones seen on the sides of the ring feature two diamonds from Princess Diana's personal collection.

Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber's original engagement ring featured an oval-cut diamond on an 18-karat gold band. The ring was estimated to be up to 10 carats in size, and has since been upgraded to a whopping 12 carat oval-cut white diamond.

“I love working with oval-cut diamonds, they are super flattering on the finger and, to me, bring the same feeling of softness as a pear," says Thomas, "However, you have to be careful when choosing an oval, a badly cut one just looks like a potato (known as the bow-tie effect).”

Serena Williams

Serena Williams' engagement ring is a real wow piece. Featuring a large oval-shaped diamond flanked by two smaller stones set on a platinum band, it's a unique choice in comparison to the more minimalist designs we've seen of late.

"Serena Williams’ oval trilogy ring is a bold blend of brilliance and meaning,” says jewellery designer Isabella Hewitt. “With an oval centre stone flanked by two radiant diamonds, it follows the classic trilogy setting—three stones traditionally symbolising the past, present, and future. It’s a design chosen as much for its visual balance as for the quiet symbolism it carries.”

Lady Gaga

While it may not be her most recent engagement, Lady Gaga's incredible pink sapphire ring, from talent agent Christian Carino in 2018, definitely deserves a spot on this list. Featuring a 13-carat stone, said to symbolise romance, surrounded by 12 white diamonds, it's a playful design for someone who loves untraditional stones.

"I love how this very traditional design gives an unexpected twist with the gorgeous pink hue of the sapphire," says fine jeweller, Olivia Madigan-Shea, "Today, this is a style you'd typically see this style set with sapphires, rubies or emeralds, but actually pink sapphires were used a lot during the Georgian and Victorian eras and it's a choice that feels romantic yet bold."

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

While most see an engagement ring as a lifelong purchase, many celebs choose to upgrade their styles as their tastes change over the years. One celebrity who's done precisely this is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who got engaged to actor Jason Statham in 2016. While she was originally spotted with a round-cut diamond, in more recent years, she's been wearing a tilted pear shape style from Jessica McCormack which offers a more modern finish.

Designed by jeweller Lorraine Schwartz, Beyoncé's engagement ring features an emerald-cut diamond flanked on either side by two smaller stones. The resulting effect is incredibly elegant, nodding to vintage designs with a modern twist.

"Beyonce's emerald cut stone gives such strong Art Deco vibes: clean, architectural, and timeless," says Madigan-Shea. "These are one of my favourite cuts and so I use them in most of my pieces. The split shank design is also a great design element to remember if you have a larger stone and want your ring to stay put as it helps balance the ring on the finger making it functional as well as beautiful."

Olivia Palermo

If you're looking for coloured engagement ring inspiration, take a closer look at Olivia Palermo's ring from now-husband Johannes Huebl. Featuring a cushion-cut yellow diamond on a white gold band, it's a statement style that still feels timeless.

"Olivia’s yellow sapphire cushion is perfect for a bride who wants colour without going too bold," says Madigan-Shea. "By pairing the yellow coloured stones with diamond sides, it gives a beautiful contrast that feels both timeless and unique but not too out there."
