Twilight author hasn't read it, despite Fifty Shades being inspired by her books

Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James won't be happy about this - Twilight writer Stephanie Meyer hasn't read Fifty Shades, despite the fact the erotic novel was started as fan fiction of her vampire series.

Echoing comments by JK Rowling, who said she didn't feel she had missed out by not reading the book, Meyer said Fifty Shades 'is not my kind of book - not my thing'.

However, she told Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson at an event for Breaking Dawn Part 2 that 'anytime somebody is out there being creative, that’s great.'

Twilight fanatic EL James has always credited the series for inspiring her raunchy novels which she posed on the internet as fan fiction.

Meyer said that although she hadn't read Fifty Shades, she has looked at fan fiction in the past.

She said: 'I read some fan fiction years ago and I found it really like, kind of cool.

'I felt it was a little bit sad that they were doing them in a way where [the stories] weren’t theirs, but I feel like all those people, they’re practicing and their going to write their book, it’s going to come out of them eventually, because they're writers.'
