The Fifty Shades of Grey movie has taken to the stage in an unauthorized comedy
The Fifty Shades of Grey movie may be in pre-production but that hasn’t stopped an Off-Broadway musical parody adaptation of E.L James’ novels taking to the stage. The show will feature dancing, parody performances of hit songs (and the producers hope) a lot of laughs too.
Cuff Me: A Fifty Shades of Grey produced by Entertainment Events will open at the Actors Temple Theatre in New York next month. It is being put on by improv group, The Pushers – a company famed for their wild on-stage antics that aren’t suitable for audience members who blush easily.
But then again the Fifty Shades of Grey movie and books aren’t for those types either!
It’s not the first time the saucy books that follow the sexual pursuits of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele have been the subject of ridicule.
The recently released Scary Movie 5 featured a spoof sex scene where Mike Tyson shared the screen with Ashley Tisdale and Jerry O’Connell.
As he emerges from a back room the boxer says: ‘Golly . . . thanks for working on my prostrate like it was a speed bag.’ To which Jerry, playing Christian Grey replies: ‘I was surprised by your performance as well. Not bad for a washed up, overweight, facially tattooed . . .’ before he’s then punched.
To continue the S&M theme Jerry laughs adding: ‘Do it again!’ before he then appears hanging in chains.
We imagine they’ll be many more spoofing opportunities in the near future too!
