In case you've been off the social media grid lately, there is a Topshop dress that has been such a hit that it's been sold out for ages, but you can now buy it on eBay, for about triple the price.

The £49 polka dot dress blew up on Instagram thanks to influencers like Ellie from Slip Into Style and Amelia Copeman snapping it up and styling it on their pages.

It first came out in January, and had to be re-stocked in May, selling out just as quickly as the first time.

The chic summer dress with plunging neckline taps neatly into the polka dot trend seen on the catwalk, and can be worn on its own with some sandals, or over a black t-shirt and accessorised with trainers for a more street style vibe.

Even celebrities love it, with Kate Wright wearing it to her birthday party earlier this year.

If you feel like you've missed out, you can head to eBay to buy yours, though you might need to save up a bit first. While some listings start at the retail prices, others are listed for as much as £300, which let's be honest, is not ok.

Here's hoping for another re-stock from Topshop, eh? In the meantime, here's a very similar one you can by now, which won't break the bank.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
