Hello sailor. MaxMara was banging the military drum this season and doing what it does best - great tailoring and wear-anywhere coats.
This season there was a dash of gutsy aplomb about the collection. Army khaki, greys, and classic camel were the predominant colour themes. Coats were chic and cocoonish and cinched to the waist; hooded and boyish as well as the infinitely wearable toggle coats.
Most were styled up with thick wooly (not so easy but fun all the same) leg warmers and cute naval caps. While monochrome striped jersey tops and fisherman jumpers revved up the Popeye theme.
The house cited 'The metropolis. Glass office blocks. Skyscrapers' as the ideal scenario for it's A/W 12 collection and you can see why. These were fabulous clothes for ball-breaking women who just don't compute the word failure.
