To celebrate 25 years of Marie Claire being published in the UK, we teamed up with Rankin to shoot the most iconic women from the last quarter-century. Meet Joan Burstein...

Joan Burstein's name might not be one everyone is familiar with – but it's one we all should be. This woman can be credited with introducing some of the industry's most famous designers to the world via her legendary boutique store, Browns.

Launched in 1970 on London's South Molton Street with her husband Sidney, Mrs B (as she is affectionately known) has set the trend for championing young, up and coming designers. So of course, it was only appropriate that during 2013's Fashion Month, we included her in our ultimate icons list.

To celebrate our 25th birthday this month, we've dedicated several beautiful pages of our October issue to the most iconic women from the last quarter-decade and those who are following in their footsteps.

Mrs B told us exclusively: 'When we started out in 1970, I was the only person who went abroad to buy.' She's now introduced us the likes of Missoni and John Galliano, and counts Barbara Streisand and The Rolling Stones as her loyal customers.
