Twenty of the fashion industry's biggest designers including Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney have teamed up with Harrods for The Handbag Narratives, launching exclusive new handbag designs
Harrods has teamed up with Victoria Beckham, Anya Hindmarch, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and a whole host of the fashion industry's biggest designers to celebrate 'The Handbag Narratives' – a two-month-long campaign recognising our favourite arm accessory.
The store has partnered with 20 of its leading brands to create some amazing window displays, all featuring a giant handbag of their choice – oversized Mulberry, anyone? What's more, as if Harrods wasn't already spoiling us enough, the store has also managed to get those 20 fashion houses to each design an exclusive handbag especially for the campaign. They can be purchased at the Brompton Road store in a brand new and exclusive pop-up boutique throughout July.
Victoria Beckham has designed a mini tote in an aqua powder python with a grey calf leather handle and gold hardware. It's stunning. She says: 'I wanted something chic and sophisticated but eye catching at the same time. The window display is innovative and in keeping with my brand aesthetic.'
Victoria's also offered us some of her top tips for choosing a handbag, revealing: 'Always look for something timeless that has the potential to carry you through from day to night. I like discreet branding and believe in always choosing the very best quality.'
Of her very first handbag love, Victoria said: 'My first love was my Gucci plastic carrier bag that I used to carry my school books in. I used it every day, right up until the bottom fell out.'
She adds: 'I’ve got four children so I quite regularly come across strange bits and bobs lurking at the bottom of my bags.'
Brands taking part in The Handbag Narratives campaign include Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry, Chloe, Coach, DKNY, Fendi, Ferragamo, Gucci, Loewe, Mulberry, MCM, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Prada, Rebecca Minkoff, See by Chloe, Sophie Hulme and Stella McCartney.
A pop-up photo booth is available for customers to have their photo taken on the cover of the latest issue of the Harrods Magazine with their favourite exclusive handbag style and Coach are hosting a New York-themed cocktail event within their boutique tomorrow, Thursday 18 July from 6pm – 8pm. The event celebrates the brand's American heritage and presents the latest collections with beauty treatments available from Kiehls. Spoilt, us? Yes.
