Wait, what?

Donald Trump is undoubtedly one of the most divisive people in the world, with his controversial quotes never failing to make us face-palm on the regular.

There was the time he said he should get a Nobel Prize, his statement that the queen had the most fun in years during his UK tour and the recent snubbing of his children – seeming to forget his daughter’s birthday only recently.

This week however it was all about Melania, from the reasons why they don't sleep in the same bed emerging to the couple being called out for bullying children as they gave our candy in front of the White House.

Today it was a loaded statement that Donald made about Melania that got everyone talking, with the President alleging that his wife wouldn't be sad if he was shot.

Yes, really.

While giving a speech at a fundraising event at Trump Hotel on Tuesday, the President reportedly made a joke at his wife's expense.

The speech, according to Politico, saw Donald Trump recall the shooting of US Representative, Steve Scalise, who was hit by a gunman in 2017 during a Republican baseball game.

Recalling the incident at the recent private event, Trump reportedly explained how Steve's wife 'cried her eyes out when [he] met her at the hospital that fateful day'.

Going on to speak about Melania, Donald recalled: 'I mean not many wives would react that way to tragedy, I know mine wouldn't.'

There's no word yet on how Melania took the joke.
