'She is so incredible'

Think you know supermodel Naomi Campbell? Well, designer Brandon Maxwell, who dressed Naomi for the CFDA awards on Monday night, has some news for you: dressing Naomi was a total joy.

The designer told The Coveteur, 'The thing about Naomi is that she really trusts the people she chooses to work with. She is so incredible,' he said. 'She really gives you the time—she stands there for an hour and a half during the fitting and really takes her time. Because everything that I do is so much about tailoring and fit, [patience] is really crucial, and she really gave me my time. It was truly easy.'

The dress Maxwell chose for Naomi featured a plunging neckline and cut out sides, reminding the world that even after several decades in the industry, there's very few who can hold a candle to Naomi.

As well as dressing Naomi, Brandon was her date for the evening. Campbell was keen to sing her friend's praises, telling reporters, 'We collaborated on something for my birthday, and Brandon is loved by people that I love and respect like Edward Enninful. It’s a given!' explained the supermodel of her date for the evening. She then issued him the highest compliment a designer can get: 'I don’t ask Brandon what he’s going to put me in, I trust—and there are very few people I do that with. Alaïa being one of them, obviously, so very few, but I trusted what he was going to choose.'

It sounds like the pair had a pretty relaxed evening, because when Brandon was announced as the winner of the Swarovski Award for Womenswear he wasn't exactly prepared: 'I was so shocked, honestly. I had my pants unbuttoned and my jacket off and wasn't even thinking about winning at all.'
