Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken a doctor on tour for the first time ever

Prince William and Kate Middleton have arrived in Pakistan for their royal tour, with this being the Duke and Duchess’ first official visit to the country.

Announcing their arrival, the couple shared a behind-the-scenes photograph to Instagram, captioned 'the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Pakistan'.

During their tour, the royal couple ‘will pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan, but will largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as it is today — a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation.

‘From the modern leafy capital Islamabad, to the vibrant city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside in the North, and the rugged border regions to the West, the visit will span over 1000km, and will take in Pakistan’s rich culture, its diverse communities, and its beautiful landscapes.’

It’s not the tour itinerary that has made the most news however, but who is joining the couple on tour, with the Duke and Duchess bringing a doctor with them alongside their usual team.

Yes, alongside the Duke and Duchess' private secretaries, assistant private secretaries, communications secretary, programme coordinators, PAs and hairdresser is the couple's royal doctor, a friend from Prince William's East Anglian Air Ambulance days.

While the Queen and Prince Philip often travel with a medic in their entourage, this is a first for Prince William and Kate Middleton.
