William and Kate will celebrate at the sprawling Birkhall estate in Scotland, according to reports
After spending their very first Christmas together, Prince William and Kate Middleton will see in the New Year in Scotland, according to reports.
The Duke and Duchess celebrated the festive period with the rest of the Royal Family at the Queen’s Norfolk home of Sandringham, and were spotted stepping out to attend a church service on Christmas Day.
It’s thought Prince William also took part in the traditional Boxing Day shoot during the break, and led a party of grandchildren to visit Prince Phillip, while he was treated at Papworth hospital.
After a hectic weekend of royal festive commitments, it’s thought William and Kate are planning something a little quieter for New Year – with a trip to Prince Charles’s sprawling Birkhall estate in Aberdeen.
‘They will stay for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day,’ a royal insider told American Us Magazine. ‘Charles and Camilla will be flying there, too.’
And that’s not all.
It’s thought Kate’s parents Michael and Carole, who spent Christmas at home while she celebrated her first festive season with the royals, have also been invited.
According to insiders, the pair are ‘expected at Birkhall for the festivities,’ and will stay in a cottage on the estate.
‘They are staying at Teapot Cottage or another cottage on the estate, not Birkhall itself,’ the source added.
