Lily Allen: 'I checked into psychiatric ward following miscarriage'
Lily Allen has revealed that she checked herself into a psychiatric ward last year, following her devastating miscarriage. Lily was a few months pregnant with then-boyfriend Ed Simons' baby, when she discovered she had miscarried last January.
In an interview with The Mirror, she spoke of falling into depression following the miscarriage, which then led to her time in the clinic.
She described, 'I stayed there [psychiatric clinic] for three weeks. I was really depressed because of the miscarriage and I'd kind of lost the plot a bit. It was quite a nasty time.'
'Actually, it was quite nice being in there. No one could get to me; no one knew I was there,' she said.
Discussing the miscarriage, the Smile singer added, 'I guess… it wasn't to be. That’s all I can say. I mean, you can kind of say, "What if?"
'Maybe if I’d stayed pregnant and had the baby then things would have worked out between me and Ed. I don't know. You could drive yourself insane thinking about it.'
