Katy Perry finally speaks out over Russell Brand divorce

Katy has remained silent about the shock split until now

Katy Perry has used Twitter to break her silence about her split with husband Russell Brand.

The singer, 27, has remained tight-lipped since it was announced that she and Brand were getting divorced over the Christmas holidays.

She's now used the social networking site to thank her fans and let them know that her 'heart is happy again.'

She wrote: 'I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again.'

The Firework singer then made an attempt to clear up some of the gossip surrounding the end of her 14-month marriage to Brand.

She said: 'Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, "close sources" or my family.'

It's thought that this could be a dig at her evangelical parents, Keith and Mary Hudson, who spoke publicly about the split earlier this week.

Her pastor mother, told her church congregation in Ohio, that Katy's divorce was a 'gift from God.'

She said: 'I'm sure that Katy's trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight.

'I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.'

Actor and comedian Brand announced that he was divorcing Perry on December 30 with a statement that read: 'Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends.'
