Kate Middleton nailed her final solo engagement yesterday, making headlines once again for her charming manner, her elegant arrival and her high street style statement.
The heavily-pregnant Duchess of Cambridge, whose baby is due next month, attended the christening of the Royal Princess cruise liner in Southampton wearing a gorgeous dalmation-print coat from high street store Hobbs, black L.K Bennett court shoes, and a black bow hat by her favourite milliner, Jane Taylor.
Boarding the ship, Kate Middleton approached the mic to announce 'I name this ship Royal Princess. May God bless her, and all who sail in her'.
She then released the giant Nebuchadnezzar-size bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne toward the ship, officially welcoming Royal Princess into the fleet of Princess Cruises, one of the world’s largest international cruise lines.
The Duchess was then treated to a performance by Natasha Bedingfield, before being taken on a tour of the ship, which included a fun tutorial with the ship's captain, Tony Draper.
Princess Cruises has a history of famous godmothers – including Diana Princess of Wales (who named the first Royal Princess in 1984), Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Dame Margaret Thatcher and Olivia de Havilland – so our Kate's in good company.
