EL James tops the Forbes list of the world's highest earning authors, raking in £62 million
Fifty Shades of Grey author EL James has earned herself a top spot on the Forbes Highest Paid Authors List, shooting passed established writers Stephen King, Danielle Steel and JK Rowling to make a cool £62 million.
Last year, Forbes Magazine reported a male dominated list, where EL James made her first appearance for Fifty Shades of Grey - this year she's number 1 with the trilogy of erotic fiction.
Fifty Shades of Grey is the fastest-selling book in Britain since records began but Forbes.com attributes her huge success to the availability of e-books which allow the racy read to be enjoyed discreetly.
British novelist EL James beat off competition from the Hunger Games writer Suzanna Collins, which went on to be a blockbuster movie franchise. Meanwhile James is expected to have earned £2 million for rights to the Fifty Shades movie, alone.
And it's set to earn her yet more cash as Fifty Shades movie director Sam Taylor-Johnson is said to have a 'wicked artistic vision' for the upcoming movie adaption as her 23-year-old Aaron Taylor-Johnson, this week revealed.
He told one gossip website he thought she was 'super talented' and was 'really happy for her' but denied rumours he would be playing her lead male, Christian Grey.
There's not long left until it's expected to hit the big screen so hopefully it will be worth the wait.
