The letters reveal an insight into the teenage starlet's life as a young
Hollywood actress; her worries about her weight, her frustrations with
film making and her experiences on set - as well as her love affairs.
‘I've never known this kind of love before — it's so perfect and complete — and mature,' she wrote to her first fiancé William Pawley, who she was engaged to for less than a year in 1947.
The letter continued, 'I've never loved anyone in my life before one third as much as I love you — and I never will (well, as far as that goes — I'll never love anyone else — period).'

They were written at a time when she was publicly dating football player Glenn Davis at the insistence of her mother and bosses – although she was actually in love with and engaged 22-year-old Pawley, who was the son of the Brazilian ambassador.
The letters were sold to RR Auction in Amherst last year for $25,000. They are now believed to be worth triple that figure.
The Oscar-winning superstar never did marry her young lover, but did go on to wed eight times before her death last week.
