Demi Lovato has been in the news a lot lately. She keeps releasing new songs, and we cannot get enough of them. Now, however, Demi Lovato shared why she doesn’t talk about her sexuality in interviews, reports Teen Vogue. Lovato is known as an LGBTQ advocate, but she says she doesn’t want to give interviews about her own sexuality.

It all started in a recent interview with Pridesource. First, Pridesource asked Lovato about Cool for the Summer. Specifically, they asked about Lovato’s reaction to an article on AfterEllen. The website said the song insinuates that same-sex intimacy should be kept a secret.

'My intention with the song was just fun and bi-curiosity,' Lovato told PrideSource. 'I think people look at song lyrics — they look too into it. I wish I could tell that website to ‘chill the f*ck out’ and ‘take a break,’ because it’s just a song.'

As for why Lovato doesn’t specifically address her sexuality, she shared that with PrideSource, too.

'I just feel like everyone’s always looking for a headline and they always want their magazine or TV show or whatever to be the one to break what my sexuality is,' Lovato said.

She added, 'I feel like it’s irrelevant to what my music is all about. I stand up for the things that I believe in and the things that I’m passionate about, but I like to keep my personal life as private as possible when it comes to dating and sexuality and all that stuff just because it has nothing to do with my music.'

She said that the way the media covers her is a factor, too.

'Unfortunately, we live in a world where everyone is trying to get that soundbite and I am purposefully not giving the soundbite. Watch my documentary.'

Yup, Lovato mentioned her documentary, which we ~cannot wait~ to see. It’s called Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated and premieres October 12th on YouTube. In case you’re wondering, it’ll go through her life in and out of the music studio. She added that she addresses her sexuality in the documentary.

'Because if ever I want to talk about it, I want it to be on my own terms.'

Before her documentary comes out, her album Tell Me You Love Me does, on September 29th. So mark your calendars. We definitely have!
