David has been hand picked by Matthew Perry to star in new US TV comedy Go On

Sporting hero? Tick. Style icon? Tick. All round beautiful person? Tick. Actor? Hell, why not?!

Becks has landed another acting stint, playing himself on Matthew Perry's new US TV comedy show, Go On.

On the show, the Friends actor will play a sports broadcaster struggling to cope after the death of his wife, and he's recruiting a host of athletes for cameos.

Enter David. The footballer, who previously played himself in the 2005 film Goal!, has already signed up while Matthew has revealed he is also keen have ice hockey star Wayne Gretzky and tennis ace Jimmy Connors make appearances.

'We've talked to David Beckham and he said that he would do it, so that was very exciting,' Perry says.

'We have asked (ice hockey icon) Wayne Gretzky; I'd love to have him on the show at some point.

'My favourite athlete of all time is (tennis ace) Jimmy Connors, so, I guess my hope is that we get Jimmy Connors to come back and work with me again, which would be a dream come true.'

The more of we see of Becks the better we reckon.
