Cheryl Cole’s niece failed to impress the show’s judges and is fuming after her efforts didn't appear on TV
Cheryl Cole may have let go of her own gripes with the X Factor franchise after parting ways with the American show last year, but it appears one member of her family has developed a new grudge.
The brunette beauty’s niece, Melissa Armstrong has aired her anger, after her audition for the current series of X Factor did not appear on the show.
Earlier this year the 21-year-old performed for judges at the Newcastle round of auditions, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh awarded her a place at bootcamp but Gary Barlow and Tulisa refused to put her through.
Despite her lack of success, she still hoped her efforts would be shown on TV, particularly because of her family connection to the show. But Melissa’s chances of exposure drew to a close when the audition phase of the X Factor finished over the weekend.
Upset by the turn of events she told The Sun: ‘I have no idea what’s going on but it doesn’t look like I am going to appear.’
A family friend supported the aspiring singer who said: ‘Everybody is angry that Melissa’s audition has been scrapped. We can’t believe it. She gave a really good performance and believed she would be featured in the audition shows.
‘But after it was announced Cheryl was making her surprise comeback, it all went quiet. I wonder why that is? If anything, Melissa is a better singer than Cheryl. It’s so unfair.’
Cheryl Cole has kept a dignified silence over the inncident but will appear back on screens this weekend for the judges’ houses stage of the show, helping Gary Barlow select his final three contestants.
