Charlie Sheen's wife has claimed he held a knife to his throat when she asked for a divorce
Charlie Sheen has been accused of holding a knife to the throat of his wife Brooke Mueller when she asked for a divorce, in a shocking attack that saw him spend Christmas day behind bars.
Police have released an audio of the emergency call made by Ms Mueller, which hears her state through tears: ‘My husband had me with a knife and he threatened me.. I thought I was gonna die for one hour.’
The call was made at 8.34am, with Mueller claiming she was in the kitchen after Sheen had retreated to a back room. She revealed that there were other family members in their Aspen home when the attack took place.
When asked if he still had the knife she answered: ‘Yeah he does, but there are other people here. I have people here – my family here, but right now I need to file this.’
The 44-year-old actor was arrested and spent around ten hours in jail, after being arrested on suspicion of menacing, second-degree assault and criminal mischief.
He will now face the courts in Aspen in February, after arguing that he did not threaten his wife.
The couple wed in 2008, and have nine-month-old twin boys. Sheen, best known for roles in films such as Platoon and Wall Street has become one of the highest paid actors in US TV, after finding success with show Two and a Half Men.
The latest on the case claims that the couple are to undergo counselling, and do not plan to immediately split.
