Britney Spears is set to walk down the aisle for the third time, after boyfriend Jason Trawick reportedly popped the question over a romantic dinner last night.

It’s thought Brit’s beau of three years surprised the pop princess with a Neil Lane sparkler during an evening out to celebrate their 30th and 40th birthdays.

‘He surprised her after she gave him his gifts and after they had cake last night,’ one insider told American magazine People of Jason’s marriage proposal.

'This is something they've both wanted for a long time,' another told Us Weekly. ‘It's a way to cement their family. They're both extremely happy and can't wait to become man and wife.’

Hinting of her happy news, ecstatic Britney took straight to Twitter, telling fans: ‘OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I've been waiting for. Can't wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo’

Although reps for the star have yet to officially announce the news, it’s thought Britney and Jason are planning to celebrate their engagement in Las Vegas tonight.
