Superstar Beyonce Knowles says she will teach Blue Ivy the power of inner beauty

She may have been recently crowned the most beautiful woman in the world but Beyonce Knowles says she still does her own make-up and even cuts her own hair.

The international superstar remembers first trying on make-up at six years old. 'I was playing in my mother's make-up,' she tells People magazine. 'I had blue eye shadow and red lips, and I put crazy blush on. I looked like a clown, but I thought I was so beautiful.'

Skip forward a couple of decades, and with copious awards under her belt and a personal fortune of $300 million in the bank, Beyonce Knowles has come a long way since then.

She adds that growing up with her hairdresser mother Tina Knowles taught her a lot about beauty: 'I like to experiment [with my hair],' she says. 'I love playing around with highlights or bleaching the tips. I can cut and style my own hair.'

Fresh off the revelations that Cameron Diaz shuns chic LA salons for kitchen cuts, Beyonce Knowles added that she recently chopped two inches off her own hair: 'I just parted it in the middle and chh-chh-chh,' she tells the magazine.

When asked if she's comfortable leaving the house without make-up, Beyonce explained: 'Every day in my life is a part of my history, and I've worked really hard on my career and my life. So I make sure I wouldn't be upset if somebody saw me.'

And what exactly does it take to get ready when you're one of the worlds most photographed women on the planet? Well not that much actually. 'I don't have to spend that much time on my skin,' she admits.

'I'm pretty good at throwing out the expired stuff, but I hold on to my mascara for a long time. I actually prefer old mascara. It makes your lashes thicker and longer.'

'I have embraced my flaws,' she adds. 'And I feel more confident.'
