The singer has reportedly returned home to the UK, and is considering a move back to the British show.

Ex-American X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has fled the US after being axed from the high profile talent show, according to reports, and is currently holed up in her London home deciding her next move.

With still no word from X Factor officials - or Cheryl’s own team – on exactly why the singer was removed from the show, talk has turned to what Ms C will do next, with many tipping her to return to the UK version next month.

Insider’s have revealed Cheryl is ‘furious’ about being let go from the American show in such a public way, but claim that she knew more than three days ago that an announcement was coming.

‘Cheryl is furious,’ a source close to the star reportedly told the Mail. ‘This is another slap in the face. She moved to America in full public glare – and now she’s being asked to come back to do the UK again. She feels hurt and let down.’

'Her language, accent and diction were heavily screen-tested. The network knew exactly what she could do before things kicked off'

The starlet is said to have fled the country before the news hit, and has reportedly been riding out the media storm at home.

‘Cheryl can hardly say this was a total shock,’ another insider added. ‘She actually knew about it three days ago. Simon told her in person at his house that it wasn't working and that he was under so much pressure to release her.’

‘She knows she has been nervous in her performances and TV execs were privately concerned.'

Some are today saying media giant Rupert Murdoch – owner of the Fox network - could even have been behind her sacking, claiming he pulled rank on bosses backing Simon Cowell, and decided Cheryl had to go.

She may be hiding out at home, but if Ms C does want to return to the UK version of the show - alongside new judges Kelly Rowland, Gary Barlow and Tulisa Contosavlos - it seems she will have to move quickly.

‘Of course we would be glad to have her back. She is Cheryl Cole,’ one ITV worker told the Mail.

‘Would the British audience welcome her back? I believe they would. There would be a sense of this is where you belong.

‘But let’s be honest. She will have to decide very quickly. We are doing auditions next week.’
