Angelina lined up to play Dr Kay Scarpetta in movie series of Patricia Cornwell novels
It looks like Angelina Jolie has bagged herself a money-spinning new role playing leading lady, Dr Kay. Scarpetta, in a movie based on Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling crime novels.
Reports have surfaced that the Oscar-winning star is set to sign to the franchise – her second after the Tomb Raider series – and we can’t think of a better woman to play the hard-nosed, beautiful forensic examiner, who battles her way through a complicated love life and is partial to opera and Italian cuisine.
Although Cornwell has penned 16 novels in the series, Variety reports that the forthcoming movie won’t focus on one specific title.
Film studio Fox 2000 is said to be bidding for the rights to the crime-busting series.
Jolie has recently been filming scenes for her new thriller Salt, in which she plays a CIA officer, accused of defecting to the Russians. On location pictures have revealed the actress in a number of different guises – sporting a chain of different wigs.
