WATCH: British superstar Adele performs Skyfall, and takes home the Oscar for best original song
Adele gave a flawless performance of ‘Skyfall’ at the Academy Awards, before the Bond track took the Oscar for Best Original Song.
It’s a night for the biggest actress and actors in the industry to shine, but Brit girl Adele still managed to take centre stage.
Changing from her stunning Jenny Packham floor length gown into a sparkly Burberry black dress with degradé crystals, the singer took to the famous stage with a breath-taking rendition of the hit, marking her first live performance since giving birth to her son Angelo James in October.
The Grammy winner then went on to pick up the Oscar for Best Original Song, looking overwhelmed as she struggled to hold back tears as she accepted the award with her co-writer Paul Epworth.
Adele had been the hot favourite for the Oscar, having won the Golden Globe for the same category, as well as the Brit award for single of the year, bringing her total number of trophies up to a staggering 104.
Other nominees in the category Best Original Song had included Before My Time from Chasing Ice, Everybody Needs A Best Friend from Ted, Pi’s Lullaby from Life of Pi and Suddenly from Les Miserable.
Ahead of her big night, Adele apparently underwent special Chinese Qi Gong breathing therapy to help calm her nerves after it was recommended by Robbie Williams’ wife Ayda Field.
‘Adele has suffered with terrible stage fright since she was 16, but now it’s worse than ever,’ a source said.
‘She knows all eyes are on her after almost a year out of the spotlight, so she needed something to help her with it.
‘Ayda was the first person to tell Adele about Belly Breathing, and how it had helped Robbie overcome his performing anxiety in recent years.’
Not that you could tell from this performance…
