  • And the least fit...

We recently reported that people with these names are fitter and enjoy the gym more, but have you ever wondered about where the fittest city in the UK is?

Your instincts may tell you London, but you’d be pretty far away from the truth – literally. It’s Liverpool.

Yep, those scousers are putting the rest of the country to shame, coming out on top as the fittest of the bunch. 71% of the locals reported exercising at least once a week, which is a higher amount than anywhere else in the country. They’re closely followed by Manchester, 66%, and London, 65%.

Bottom of the pile, on the other hand? Ey up, it’s Sheffield – only 19% of locals say they exercise at least once a week. Ouch.

They’re joined at the bottom of the list by Plymouth, 22%, and Birmingham, 24%. Maybe they’ve just realised that having sex is better than going to the gym?

The information comes from course provider, who surveyed 2,000 UK adults as part of their research.
