Since the rise in all things athleisure, last summer saw the sporty sandal become the biggest footwear hit with the fashion crowd. This summer, it's all about the iconic pool slide's luxe upgrade...

This summer's biggest shoe trend is easy. A chic update of the unlikely fashion favourite. We're talking major silky, embellished and bow adorned styles to make the biggest style statement from the feet up. Everyone from Miu Miu to Balenciaga have covered the trend, as well as high street faves Topshop and Zara.

Our top pick come in the form of No.21’s high-fash satin striped style, the perfect purchase to seriously shake up your SS17 wardrobe. If you’re on a budget, then you’ll want to snap up Zara’s embellished silk styles, complete with juicy fruits in gems, (because what says summer more than a gemstone pineapple?)

So how to wear them? Simple. With your favourite shirt dress, cool culottes, super frayed denim, or oversized sporty separates. From bombers to denim jacket staples, throw on one of your many summer jackets to complete the look. Fans of the summery trend include Elle Fanning and Gigi Hadid, plus Rihanna who designed her very own pair for the Puma x Fenty collaboration is a fan and who are we to argue with Riri?

Candy colours are key for this new trend that is taking the style word by storm. If you need a little more rose hued inspiration see our gallery on how to wear pink, the coolest colour of the season.

Shop our pick of the best below. But be warned luxe style means a luxe budget, as these stunning styles do cost a pretty penny...
