The influencer shoe collection you never knew you needed

I'll be honest, the title of this article is perhaps a little misleading, because you always need new shoes. Well I do at least. However Leandra Medine's eponymous collection, newly launched at Harvey Nichols, is certainly one to write about.

The influencer and businesswoman behind Man Repeller previously launched a shoe line titled MR by Man Repeller, however this one is a little different, because it celebrates how women think about getting dressed.

With this in mind, there is a breadth of styles that speak to the duplicities of our wardrobes: feminine menswear in a pair of loafers, delicate ruggedness in her boots and incontestable comfort in a pair of absurdly high heels.

Reflecting Medine's own style, the collection is all about the unexpected. Think houndstooth sandals, carpet print riding boots, patent leather kitten boots paired with a removable contrasting chiffon detail and floral combat boots that are both romantic yet functional.

More importantly, the collection is for any woman doesn't apologise for expressing herself in her attire. After all, the whole ethos of Man Repeller to begin with was dressing for oneself rather to please a man.

Leandra says, 'When I think back to what inspired me, the through line is more in theme with designing for the facets of my varying wants as a woman -- a celebration of those gorgeous hypocrisies that define me.'

I'm so here for it.

Penny Goldstone

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
