PLEASE let this happen.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez announced their engagement this weekend, with the baseball legend proposing to the 'Jenny from the Block' singer after two years together.

‘She said yes,’ A-Rod captioned a photo of J-Lo’s hand with a newly adorned sparkler of an engagement ring.

J-Lo then posted the same stunning snap, captioning it instead with eight emoji love hearts.

With their wedding sure to be the event of the decade, it is hardly surprising that speculation is already building around the guest list, the dress and of course the bridal party.

One A-lister who has already thrown her hat in the ring for the role of Maid of Honour is none other than Ellen DeGeneres, who commented on J-Lo's announcement, 'Yes. I'll be your Maid of Honor'.

'I can’t believe it’s been two years,' A-Rod posted to his Instagram on their anniversary earlier this year. 'Only 730 days, which have flown by, but it feels like we have been together forever. We are meant to be, and how much you mean to me cannot be put into words. From baseball games, to traveling across the world to shows in Vegas. We have done it all together and every moment with you is cherished. Where this road will take us next is unknown but there is no one else I would rather have by my side. The journey is just beginning and I am excited for what’s ahead.'

He continued: 'Macha, your hard work is unmatched. Your relentless drive and determination push me to be a better man each and every day. Like you there is none other. Words will never do justice to what the last two years have meant to me. Thank you for always being you, for your unwavering support and unconditional love. Te amo mucho, Lola.'

These two!
