Our thoughts are with them both.

The past 12 months have seen an unprecedented amount of shock celebrity splits, from Anna Faris and Chris Pratt and Olivia Munn and Aaron Rodgers to Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux.

Just today, Claire Foy and Stephen Campbell Moore added their names to the list, confirming their split after three years of marriage.

'We can confirm that we have separated and have been for some time,' the couple announced to HELLO! in a joint statement. 'We do however continue as great friends with the utmost respect for one another. We ask for our privacy during this time.'

The Crown actress met her History Boys actor husband in 2011, while working on Season of the Witch together, going on to marry in 2014 and welcome their daughter, Ivy Rose, in 2015.

The news comes after a hard few years for the couple, with Stephen battling a brain tumour diagnosis during the filming of the second season of The Crown, undergoing successful surgery to have the tumour removed.

‘After seven years together this came as a real shock to many of their friends,' a close friend of the couple reportedly told The Sun. 'But they’re lovely people and are determined to keep everything civilised. ‘They’ve just decided that unfortunately their relationship simply wasn’t working and that this would be for the best.’

We're sending our thoughts to Claire and Stephen.
