I Tried an AI Beauty Routine Builder and Discovered Great New Products (Plus, You Can Get 10% Off)
Cut through the beauty noise, with 115 years of research.
If there’s one truth to the beauty industry, it’s constantly changing and evolving with new brands and trending products every month. But that also means it’s a struggle to cut through the noise and spend on products that will actually work for your skin—a task that usually requires hours of internet research and expert knowledge of skincare ingredients. However, Noli is helping you save time with its new AI skincare routine builder.
Even if you might consider yourself an expert in skincare, our skin has new concerns throughout our lives. Whether it’s a hormonal flare of adult acne or new fine lines around the eyes, finding the right products can help you navigate the world with confidence. If you’re unsure where to start building a skincare routine, you’re in the right place.
Built on years of L’Oréal research, Noli is home to high-quality skincare products from both trending and trusted brands. This includes dermatologically approved favourites from La Roche-Posay, CeraVe, and Kiehl’s. Noli’s ethos of ‘choosing smarter, choosing once’ is something my skin (and my wallet) loves to hear. To help you decide whether it’s worth it, I tried the AI routine builder myself and here’s what I thought of each product. In addition, you can use our exclusive Marie Claire discount code for £10 off when you spend £40+.
The Science of AI Skincare
At the centre of Noli’s new skincare advisor is revolutionary technology developed with 115 years of L’Oreal research. What sets it apart from a simple AI search is the extensive research that informs face-scanning technology.
You will be asked to take a photo of your face, and Noli will scan over 80 criteria and data points to design your tailored skincare routine within minutes. By designing routines with a data-led approach, each product is chosen to deliver maximum results and efficiency.
Additionally, products stocked at Noli contain active ingredients beloved by skincare enthusiasts, such as hydrating hyaluronic acid. While I was impressed to see such hero-ingredients recommended, I was most intrigued to try the fragrance-free item on offer, as my skin is easily irritated. Noli’s technology works perfectly to explain where your skin needs some TLC, and which ingredients can help.
My Honest Review of Noli Skincare Routine
I’ve only used this skincare routine for a week, so it’s hard to say whether the results will be lasting. As with most skincare, it takes months to see real changes but I could judge more instant aspects. My skincare routine included four products, with my main concerns being acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation and dehydration.
Personally, the standout products for me were the Kiehl’s sunscreen and the SkinCeuticals serum. Both have ultra-lightweight textures, and the Kiehl’s formula is fragrance-free—ideal for my acne-prone skin.
That said, I did experience a breakout, which I suspect was down to introducing too many new products at once, including a few with added fragrance. It’s a useful reminder that even the best routines need to be phased in—so if you’re building your own, introduce one product at a time to give your skin space to adjust.
I have been unwaveringly loyal to my current Beauty of Joseon Aqua Relief Sunscreen for over a year, having tried many sunscreens. I know it works, and it protects my face and acne from scarring more. However, this Kiehl’s sunscreen is an excellent alternative. It has a high UVA/UVB rating and it’s infused with Vitamin C and antioxidant Baicalin. My skin favours fragrance-free and non-comedogenic products, so it’s a win there too. In addition, this sunscreen contains pollution protection for your skin and sits well under makeup.
Formulated with hyaluronic acid, this SkinCeuticals serum was one of the products I was most excited to test. I tested initially on my cheeks to ensure it didn’t break me out, and I only needed 2-3 drops each time. The serum might have an expensive price tag, but it contains soothing botanicals and hyaluronic acid, which is known for its hydrating properties. It definitely felt lightweight and like a little luxury for my skin.
I do love the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser, so I was intrigued by a cleanser from the brand designed for dark spots and acne marks. I might be tempted to skip this from the routine, as it contains fragrance, which my acne does not respond well to. However, it probably suits less reactive skin types absolutely fine. Designed with niacinamide to support your skin barrier, this cleanser also has another hero ingredient: Melasyl™. Melasyl was created with 18 years of research and targets hyperpigmentation. You only need a pea-sized amount, as this cleanser foams well.
If I did pass on any product, it would be this moisturiser. Formulated with jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid, this thick nighttime moisturiser hydrates well. In the morning, people complimented my ‘glowy’ skin. It’s non-comedogenic, but as it contains fragrance, it’s best to leave it out for my skin type.
