Lazy Oaf’s new Hello Kitty collection is surprisingly chic

When we heard Lazy Oaf was doing a Hello Kitty collection, we were a bit on the fence. Because, well the cartoon is a bit cutesie, and we weren’t sure it was going to make for wearable fashion for the over 15s.

We needn’t have worried though, because we’ve had a sneak peek of the collection, and it’s actually very chic.

Sure, you do have Kitty’s face on some of the items, but it’s quite subtle. There’s a white skirt with the signature whiskers on it, and a fab pink denim jacket with ruffle sleeves and red bows on the pockets.

Our favourite though has to be the gingham trousers, which are embroidered with tiny red bows. We would totally wear those with a white t-shirt and mules.

Prices start from around the £30 mark for accessories and go up to £120 for that jacket, so it’s pretty affordable.

The 16-piece capsule collection launches on 15 June, so you won’t have long to wait to shop it. Which piece will you go for?

Penny Goldstone is the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire, covering everything from catwalk trends to royal fashion and the latest high street and Instagram must-haves.

Penny grew up in France and studied languages and law at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris before moving to the UK for her MA in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth University. She moved to the UK permanently and has never looked back (though she does go back regularly to stock up on cheese and wine).

Although she's always loved fashion - she used to create scrapbooks of her favourite trends and looks, including Sienna Miller and Kate Moss' boho phase - her first job was at MoneySavingExpert.com, sourcing the best deals for everything from restaurants to designer sales.

However she quit after two years to follow her true passion, fashion journalism, and after many years of internships and freelance stints at magazines including Red, Cosmopolitan, Stylist and Good Housekeeping, landed her dream job as the Digital Fashion Editor at Marie Claire UK.

Her favourite part of the job is discovering new brands and meeting designers, and travelling the world to attend events and fashion shows. Seeing her first Chanel runway IRL at Paris Fashion Week was a true pinch-me moment.
